Facebook profile

Facebook profiles can damage job applicants' employability.
26/02/2010   Source: APDCM

The study made among top 100 employers in the UK, US, Germany and France shows most employers research candidates online and their findings can be as important as the candidates’ CV or interview. They admit that applicants have been rejected based on their online behaviour.

But HR officers say that a good and well managed online profile can actually help candidates get the job. They think social networking can be a great advantage in the 2010 job market.

The study showed several Facebook mistakes including bad language, complaints about their job or supervisors, inappropriate photographs etc.

Applicant should continue to be careful with what image they portray online even after being hired. According to the study about 30 percent of employers have fired people based on their online behaviour.
