The REACU’s most important objectives are to promote cooperation among Spanish university quality agencies and to contribute to creating the conditions for mutual recognition of their decisions, among others . Further objectives include the promotion and development of cooperation and experience and information exchange, especially methodologies and best practices; collaboration in fostering quality assurance in higher education in the Spanish university system; and acting as a forum in which quality assurance standards, procedures and guidelines are proposed. A final objective is to promote quality assurance system development and implementation.

The ACAP signed a collaboration agreement with the National Evaluation, Quality and Accreditation Agency (ANECA) in 2003. It provides framework for the specific collaboration agreement to develop and implement the DOCENTIA Programme.
