Warum Warum (Why, Why), the latest production from Peter Brook and his second in German, is an almost liturgical search for the origin and development of the theatrical process. Artaud, Craig, Dullin, Meyerhold, Motokiyo and Shakespeare in this questionnaire with no answers that wants, according to Brook, to make visible what is present, to make what is alive materialise on stage .
Why theatre... Why, why... Onstage, a woman, wearing grey trousers which are too wide and too long, tied at the waist with a red scarf. Around the neck a lucky charm, on the head a turban. At her side, a musician plays a mysterious instrument. Two bare walls close in around them. Warum Warum premiered on April 17 this year in Zurich’s Schauspielhaus.
