RIGHTS
Voting is a freely exercised right. No one can be forced or conditioned to vote in a certain way. In order to exercise one's right to vote in the Elections to the Assembly of the Community of Madrid, one must be a registered citizen of the Community of Madrid and be of legal age.
In order to exercise one's right to vote one must be inscribed in the Electoral Roll of the Community of Madrid.
The right to vote is exercised personally, notwithstanding the provisions governing postal votes.
All those voters who, although they are not registered in the Electoral Table Roll, can accredit their registration in the electoral roll by presenting the corresponding judicial decision or roll certificate to the Table Chairperson, are entitled to vote.
All voters who wish to vote in person are entitled to use the voting booth corresponding to their Table, which gives the voter privacy while selecting their vote.
Voters who cannot read or are physically disabled and, therefore, unable to select or give the ballot paper to the Table Chairperson, may request the assistance of a trusted person to help them vote in person.
All voters who have voted in person are entitled to verify that their name and surnames have been correctly recorded on the numbered list drawn up by the Voting Table.
Voters who expect to be absent from their polling station on the election day (27 May 2007), ill or physically unable to vote in person, may vote by mail.
Voters from the Community of Madrid who are currently living abroad and are registered on the electoral roll of Spanish nationals living abroad, are entitled to vote by mail.
Voters whose working hours coincide with the polling hours of the Elections of 27 May 2007 are entitled to a maximum of four hours paid leave. To this effect, those voters may request a certificate from the Table Chairperson accrediting the exercise of his/her vote.
Voters are entitled to attend the public count at each electoral table, which shall commence at 8 pm.
OBLIGATIONS
voters may only vote once. Votes shall be deposited at their corresponding Electoral Table.
Voters must identify themselves to the Table Chairperson, presenting one of the following official documents: DNI (National Identity Document), Passport or Driver's License with the voter's photograph.
Voters who have requested a postal vote cannot vote in person at their corresponding Voting Table. No voter may enter the polling place with weapons or instruments that could be used as such.
On election day, the formation of groups within the Polling Stations that could potentially obstruct access to the Electoral Tables or hinder electors' exercise of their votes are prohibited.
On election day, no propaganda of any kind may be displayed in favour of the candidates in the Polling stations, premises of the electoral tables or surrounding area.
