Genre: teacher training course With the collaboration of the Antonio Gades Foundation and Getafe’s Department of Culture
FLAMENCO ACTIVITIES
This year, Suma Flamenca has programmed two activities in parallel with its artistic programme, which from the present will show us the past and the future of flamenco. A discussion Supongamos que hablamos de Morente and the course Flamenco en el aula.
Flamenco is a universal art which arises from the mixing of and dialogue between cultures. With flamenco, diversity is present in the coexistence of peoples and, also for the reality of our classrooms, is an example of tolerance and union.
The Antonio Gades Foundation, as part of its educational project, is encouraging knowledge and enjoyment of flamenco among young people with the programme Flamenco en el aula, aimed at primary schools. After various experiences with the pupils in the school, the Foundation is now considering a teacher training course.
Flamenco en el aula proposes an approach to the art of flamenco and suggests its use as a learning tool, establishing connections and links with various curriculum areas.
During the course teachers will become familiar with flamenco and its application in the classroom through practical activities: singing, clapping, dancing, zapateando and the use of flamenco accessories. They will also discover various ways of teaching, an endless range of possibilities which encourage the desire to learn.
The workshop has been designed by the dancer and teacher Silvia Marín and was inspired by the U.S. educational programme Creating Original Opera and by the LÓVA, project, currently developed in Spain.
The course is free (registration 20 €), places are limited and intended for primary teachers.
