Hofesh Shechter is, without doubt, one of the rising stars of British dance. Following spells with the Batsheva Dance Company and the Jasmin Vardimon Dance Company, he began work on his own choreographies, using a new vocabulary which manages to sketch out the elusive frontier separating greatness from fragility.
Uprising is an energetic work for seven dancers who cross the stage with a kind of wild expectation. A complete dance work of multiple realities, enveloped in the pulse of its soundtrack, startling the audience with its humanity and epic nature.
In In your rooms, a genuine onstage social structure emerges. Ten dancers create a mosaic of communication and lack of communication, of situations, places, rituals and secrets. A choreography which presents a hurried dynamic with the impossible logic of a dream.
