About the event

The Animals and Children Took to the Streets (Los animales y los niños tomaron las calles)

"Brilliantly inventive, funny, poignant and visually entrancing. It's a real pleasure."

- SUNDAY TELEGRAPH (AUSTRALIA)

1927 has become one of the key companies to emerge on to the contemporary European stage following the huge success of their first production, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, which premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2007. The London-based group now follows up with The Animals and Children Took to the Streets. This employs the same essential ingredients it used to such effect in its acclaimed debut, combining different art forms and allowing itself to be carried away by the aesthetics of silent cinema in order to mix theatre and music in a unique, entertaining and unconventional production.

Seamlessly synchronizing live music, performance and storytelling with stunning film and animation, 1927 presents The Animals and Children Took to the Streets. It tells the dark story of Bayou, an area of an infamous city which is feared and loathed, where curtain-twitchers and peeping-toms live side-by-side and where the wolf is never far from the door.

Like a giant graphic novel which has burst into life, 1927 invites the public on a theatrical journey of startling originality in which the audience will not even be able to trust its own shadow.
