Created by the Iranian choreographer Armin Hokmi, Shiraz takes as its starting point the Arts Festival of the same name, a historic event held in Persepolis (Iran) which brought together artists from all over the world between 1967 and 1977, and championed new and experimental forms of contemporary creation. In this sense, the show serves as a new space for that entire community and its energy, centred on the meeting of artistic forms and influences of persons all over the globe.

The piece features seven dancers from different backgrounds and is built around repetition and great physical prowess. On stage, the seven performers move as a single, unified body, with constant entrances and exits marked by changes in rhythm and beat.

Trained in Norway and Berlin, where he currently lives, Armin Hokmi is one of the most interesting emerging voices in contemporary European dance. His work has been staged at various theatres and international festivals, where he has distinguished himself through his ability to create highly precise pieces, with a strong sense of rhythm and a powerful collective presence as a group. His recent works include Passages (2019), International Dance (2022), Shiraz (2024) and Of the Heart (2025).
