ENGLISHThe Forest brings together the Italian choreographer and dancer Cristiana Morganti and the Argentine playwright and director Claudio Tolcachir in a sort of fairy tale with Shakespearean overtones, which explores the emotional bonds between parents and children.
Conceived as a four-handed collaboration, the show draws on both autobiographical stories and those from classical theatre and its archetypes to recount that ‘moment when our lives are shattered’ upon the death of our parents. Yet throughout, the work is shaped by the ironic perspective of both creators – a perspective attuned to the tragicomic nuances of emotional wounds.
The characters portrayed by Morganti on stage, alongside the actress Lisa Lippi Pagliai, coexist within Cosimo Ferrigolo’s evocative set design, creating a complex emotional space. A diverse universe that also encompasses other universal themes such as pain and death, illness and vital energy (and its absence).
Claudio Tolcachir, founder of the company Timbre 4, has previously attended the Autumn Festival with plays such as Tercer cuerpo and Próximo. Cristiana Morganti was a dancer with the Tanztheater Wuppertal, founded by Pina Bausch, which undoubtedly inspired her to explore the interplay between dance, theatre and humour that characterises her work.
