Cantos de Amor, a work for 12 singers and two dancers

Contemporary music’s reputation for difficulty or boredom disappears thanks to these professionals...

- Le Figaro

Cantos de amor is made up of three parts - two song and dance and one pure vocals. Cinq Rechants, written by Olivier Messieaen in 1948, is considered a work of reference for 20th century vocal music. It was the first such work written specifically for a chamber choir of 12 solo voices. It deals with a celebration of love, a sublime and mystic love, and uses French together win an invented language. Love is also examined through two French classics, La vie en rose, by Edith Piaf, and Ne me quitte pas, by Jacques Brel. Oscuro amor, by Enrique Muñoz, based on the Sonetos del amor oscuro de Federico García Lorca, transforms this emotion into a carnal, vibrant madness, an obsession and a tragedy with echoes of flamenco. Two choreographers and dancers, Gianni Joseph (contemporary dance) and Francisco Velasco (Spanish and flamenco dance) share the technical and inspirational credits.
