About the Event CIRCUS KLEZMER

Circus Klezmer

Circus which is popular, contemporary, poetic and highly enjoyable

- Santiago Fondevila, La Vanguardia digital

Klezmer music is associated with the strong Jewish, or yiddish, culture which existed in the small villages of eastern Europe before the Second World War. It is, above all, music for weddings and celebrations, with great depth and exuberance, vibrant yet also melancholic. It is also classic circus music with a romantic and dreamlike quality.

Circus Klezmer is a magical synthesis of circus disciplines, complete with plot and characters and all to the accompaniment of live klezmer music. The action takes place in a village somewhere in eastern Europe, in a time which is neither present, past or future, where a great feast is being prepared. The villagers are very excited, juggling, performing acrobatics and getting up to all sorts of mischief, because it is going to be a very special day, the day when the Circus Klezmer wedding is celebrated...
