About the Event The Blue Dragon

The Blue Dragon

Simple, ingenious, and highly visual, this brand new sequel to the highly acclaimed Dragons' Trilogy reminds us why Lepage is hailed by critics and audiences around the world as an extraordinary creative genius.

- Ottawa Focus

Well-versed in all aspects of theatre craft, Robert Lepage is equally talented as a director, scenic artist, playwright, actor and film director. His original and creative approach to theatre has won him international acclaim and shaken the dogma of classical stage direction to its foundations, especially through his use of new technologies. Contemporary history is his source of inspiration, and his modern and unusual work transcends all boundaries.

In The Blue Dragon, Robert Lepage and co-writer Marie Michaud bring back Pierre Lamontagne, the central figure from Lepage's The Dragons' Trilogy, 20 years after he left to study art in China. Two decades on, in the effervescent paradox that is modern China, the collision of two women and one man brings about fundamental changes for them all.

Cinematic language, dance, sound, song, video and a veritable arsenal of multimedia effects envelop the audience in a meticulously organised oriental journey.
