TALLERES

HOFESH SHECHTER COMPANY
Given by Hannah Shepherd and James Finnemore

Two members of the company will give this workshop aimed at young dancers and focused on Hofesh Shechter's urban-style choreography. They will use their particular skills to introduce those taking part to the company's innovative and exciting style.

By concentrating on floor work and fluid dynamics, the workshop will allow dancers to measure their progress against Shechter's iconic choreography.

A warm-up period will serve to introduce the style of movement as well as prepare the participants physically for the main purpose of the workshop which will consist of a session working on sections of Political Mother.

Intended for: young professionals and advanced-level students aged 18 to 25.

The workshop will be given in English.

CIRO ZORZOLI
with the collaboration of Diego Velázquez

Themes on directing actors.

When thinking about directing actors, it leads to questions like: What place does the actor occupy in the actual work of the director? From what point do they relate to the work of the actor? From the point of view of the actor, how does one understand the link between space, objects, text, other actors and the audience, amongst many other things? And while there is no one, single answer to these questions, the aim of the workshop is to generate some pointers towards possible conclusions.

Intended for: Experienced actors and directors and advanced-level students.

Teatros del Canal - Centro de Danza Canal
May 27 and 28 from 11am to 2pm.
Places available: 25
Registration fee 50€
For more information and details on registration (until May 19): fop@teatroscanal.com.

SASHA WALTZ & GUESTS
Given by Juan Kruz Díaz de Garaio Esnaola

The class will focus on the subject of technique. Elements such as counterbalance, release, momentum and speed will be worked on through exercises which imply being very close to the floor as well as an understanding of the anatomy and physical forces which create, influence and manipulate bodily movement.

There will be exercises, which will increase progressively in the level of technical difficulty (body coordination, spatial awareness). The class will provide each participant with space to investigate and explore - through improvisation and with clear tasks and objectives - the possibility of applying those elements to their own physical lexicon.

Intended for: professional dancers.

Teatros del Canal - Centro de Danza Canal
May 28 from 10am to 2pm.
Places available: 25
Registration fee: 25€
