A show which plays on the key ingredients of the great circus tradition - curiosity and illusion - in the intimate setting of their own Big Top.

The travelling circus family once again becomes the starting point from which Circus Ronaldo gets its latest production up-and-running. The Belgian outfit's 13-strong team displays an exceptional cohesion inside its apparently disorderly but delightfully varied performance. Every smile and gesture, from the smallest movement of the hands to awe-inspiring acts, bring out the essence of the traditional and family circus - not learned but instinctive.

Circenses is a poetic work, sensitive and, at the same time, unpolished. At the beginning of the performance, half of the public is to be found behind a red curtain, where the artists are warming up and changing costumes before coming onstage, which is where the "real performance" takes place. It is something that normally one never sees - the other side of the circus, from where one can make out the sound and the magical atmosphere of the performance. After the interval, everything changes. The audiences swap places to experience the show from the other side of the curtain. Those who were behind discover the actual show and those who were in the ring can at last see the circus' other face...
