About the event El viento en un violín

EL VIENTO EN UN VIOLÍN

If in La omisión de la familia Coleman, Claudio Tolcachir (Buenos Aires, 1975), used caustic humour to unravel the miseries of a family clan and in Tercer cuerpo introduced us to an office routine which was just as ramshackle as its occupants, with El viento en un violín the successful Argentinian director examines the ins and outs of love between mothers and their children.

Tolcachir says his latest work is about "women who love themselves, looking desperately for a child. Mothers with children, desperate to ensure their happiness. Disorientated children, desperate to find their place. Stories of rich and poor individuals sorting out their lives. And the love that cuts through everything, which permits everything, good and bad. The love of living life in a different way and maybe accepting it - in the name of love.".

Expert in showing the complex mechanism of relations taken to the limit, Tolcachir underpins his theatre on the work of the actors, the value of the text, the humour of the situations, the refined stage settings and the humanity of each gesture. His work has been recognised with awards in the Argentinian Premios ACE, Clarín, María Guerrero, Teatros del Mundo and Teatro XXI. His works have been performed in more than 20 countries and translated into six languages.

El viento en un violín was premiered at the Festival d'Automne in Paris in November last year and before arriving at the Festival de Otoño en primavera, it gained considerable critical acclaim at the Temporada Alta de Girona festival. The Periódico de Cataluña newspaper praised the "vibrant stage realism" and called it "another overwhelming display from Claudio Tolcachir".
