The 30th edition of the Festival de Otoño a Primavera (Autumn to Spring Festival) begins on October 31, 2012, and will run until June 9, 2013. Some of the biggest names on the European stage have confirmed their appearance, such as the British company, Propeller, and Heiner Goebbels from Germany, key Spanish performers of the calibre of Angélica Liddell, important and innovative contemporary acts like Zimmermann & de Perrot or 1927, as well as companies from further afield such as Grupo Corpo. At the same time, additional productions are being incorporated into the programme throughout the duration of the festival. The website www.madrid.org/fo will keep our audiences updated on all the latest news and information brought to us during this 30th edition.
The festival has modernised its format to bring the best national and international stage productions to Madrid throughout the year. Thirty years ago, the Festival de Otoño was created with the aim of offering a programme of international avant-garde productions which the region did not then have access to. Today our region benefits from a rich, eclectic and varied cultural offering, allowing the Festival de Otoño to evolve and change its format, not only making it possible for audiences to see productions over a longer period of time, instead of during a single month, but also as and when they come into production and as soon as they are able to visit Madrid.
Events featured in the 30th Festival de Otoño a Primavera are incorporated into the normal and continuing programme of the Teatros del Canal and can also be seen in established, alternative venues such as La Abadía, Cuarta Pared and the Teatro Pradillo as well as in other theatres in surrounding municipalities. One year on, our stages feature a stand-out offer of exceptional quality to convert Madrid into the European epicentre of theatre, music and contemporary dance.
We look forward to seeing you during this year's festival.
