"Never vulgar, but instead a high-end transvestite, raw and melancholy"
- LE NOUVEL OBSERVATEUR, ODILE QUIROT
Impassioned transvestite, a mixture of tenderness, irony and sadness, Olivier Py creates characters every night from an extraordinary combination of ingredients. Miss Knife, the role he brings to the Festival de Otoño a Primavera, was born one evening almost by chance and, little by little with more and more performances, began to captivate audiences with his silky and seductive voice. Reclined between a piano and a double bass and with the help of four skilled musicians, it was the warm public reception which gave the final, definitive impulse to bring the work of Miss Knife chante Olivier Py into being in 2012.
Olivier Py transforms himself onstage, surrounded by black feathers, into a succession of female characters through luxurious costume changes featuring an array of jewels or even a top hat but always perched on impossibly high heels. Nevertheless, whatever the role, he always succeeds in moving his audience with tales of frustrated hopes, extraordinary relationships, trampled dreams and dark pleasures.
Submission, domination, humour and mockery all feature in a performance which is truly out of the ordinary. Both glittering and explosive, Miss Knife chante Olivier Py is a visceral spectacle where the irrepressible face of the diva, hidden behind outrageous eyelashes, also reveals that of a melancholy cabaret singer.
