The Festival

Introduction

A new Edition of the Festival de Otoño a Primavera (Autumn to Spring Festival) of the Community of Madrid starts in October. It is already number 33. This referential Spanish performing arts encounter will once more host some of the most interesting projects to be seen in Spain during the 2015/2016 season, from both the national and international scene. Until the month of June, the 33rd Edition of the Festival de Otoño a Primavera will offer a multidisciplinary programme in which high quality modern theatre, dance and music creations will share the stage hand in hand.

British company DV8 Physical Theatre will have the task of starting off the Festival with JOHN, a breathtaking theatre-dance creation rated by the critics as “bold, involving and absolutely unique” which will be seen at the Teatros del Canal theatres. November will bring the turn for one of the most anticipated premieres in Madrid, La Clausura del Amor (Love’s End) in which two giants of our theatrical scene as Bárbara Lennie and Israel Elejalde will work this time under the orders of the prestigious French author and director Pascal Rambert.

Also in November, the Black Room (Sala Negra) of the Teatros del Canal theatres will witness the world premiere of by Pablo Remón’s new creation, 40 AÑOS DE PAZ (40 YEARS OF PEACE). December will be the time for the brilliant British troupe 1927 to return to Madrid with their latest adventure GOLEM, in which they will once again show us their talent to fuse onstage traditional animation, stop motion and live acting and music performance.

In 2016 the Festival will opt for bringing to the audiences co-productions and world premieres of some of the most interesting and essential creators from Spain and Madrid of the last years, like Janet Novás, La Phármaco, La tristura or Pablo Fidalgo. Figures of the stature of Peter Brook and his Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, Tiago Rodrigues or Aurélien Bory and Kaori Ito will provide the international dimension to this season.

In this 33rd edition, through its new Cultural Promotion General Direction department, the Community of Madrid takes on the programme conceived by Ariel Goldenberg, who finished his service as Artistic Director of the Festival last June. The artistic excellence of the projects proposed for the programme remains the main drive of a Festival which will gather great names of the international scene and also budding artists from Madrid and Spain taking over in national and international stages, who will be able to premiere their creations in Madrid thanks to the Festival’s support.

We will soon communicate the complete programme of the 33rd edition of the Festival de Otoño a Primavera through this website www.madrid.org/fop. Stay tuned, there are still a few surprises to come.

One more year we eagerly invite you to the theatres of our Community of Madrid.
