“It is born in me, it emerges, it needs to come out and show itself. I don't know what it is or what it is called, I only know that it exists and it wants to be visible. It wants to speak and be, be something tangible in order to be true and real to other people's view and my own. It wants to reveal itself from an image, from sound, from silence. It wants to be born even if it dies at that very moment. I am at its service for it to happen”. This is how young dancer and choreographer Janet Novás presents her latest creation. Si pudiera hablar de esto no haria esto (If I Could Talk About This I wouldn't Do This) will have its world premiere at the Pradillo Theatre in February 2016 as a part of the programme in the of the 33rd Edition of the Festival de Otoño a Primavera of the Community of Madrid.
Novás is one of the most prominent figures in present-day Spanish contemporary dance. Through her experimentally driven creations she has managed to create a language of her own, using her body as a tool and providing her productions with a strong emotional content which counterparts the carefully designed aesthetic plainness of her staging. Having worked alongside artists as important as Daniel Abreu and companies like Les Ballets C de la B, Novás started her solo career as a creator and performer in 2008. Her latest works, Cara pintada and Who Will Save Me Today?, have been presented at prestigious national and international festivals achieving great response among audiences and critics. Si pudiera hablar de esto no haría esto (If I Coult Talk About This I Wouldn't Do This), co-produced by the Festival de Otoño a Primavera and Pradillo Theatre with festivals Escenas do Cambio and BAD Bilbao, is her fourth solo creation, finding death and pain as a starting point.
