The Festival

Presentation

“A window onto the extraordinary”

For its 35th edition, the Community of Madrid's Autumn to Spring Festival is lucky enough to have an artist as renowned as illustrator Alberto Vázquez, winner of two Goya Awards in 2017 for Psiconautas and Decorado as special guest to capture in images the magical universe of the festival's premieres. The first of extraordinary creatures in his short Decorado transcends the screen this season and joins us in our seats. And the latest edition of the Autumn to Spring Festival is an invitation to delve into a singular universe of unique productions that surprise, entertain, move and unsettle in equal measure.

Eleven shows from ten different countries (Argentina, Sweden, United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Italy and Spain) will be on show over the course of the festival. Renowned and prestigious artists and young newcomers to the contemporary stage offer the audience to opportunity to develop a new relationship with the theatre. Their plays speak of a sense of the art and reclaim its relevance. In all we can see the struggle of the artists against their circumstances. Come and discover what's behind it.

The 35th edition of the Autumn to Spring Festival is also full of contrasts. Great masters like Mauricio Kartun and consolidated companies like Chapitô are joined by new groups like Gecko and Los Colochos. Revolutionary creators in their thirties like Vicent Macaigne and Mårten Spångberg share the bill with veterans of the stage like Toni Servillo and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. What's more, two vibrant and diverse Spanish realities top off the programme. Sara Molina, one of the doyennes of the Spanish avant-garde returns to the stage once again while La Joven Compañia is a successful project developed by and for young artists.

Beauty and melancholy will tread the boards at this 35th edition of the Autumn to Spring Festival. It is an encounter that, fitful to its multidisciplinary nature, offers something for every audience with theatre, dance and performance five different venues around the capital: Teatro de La Abadía, La Casa Encendida, the Sala Cuarta Pared, the Pavón Teatro Kamikaze and the Teatros del Canal.

From 19 October 2017 to 21 April 2018: a season of characters, stories, and extraordinary artists awaits. Take a peak at the 35th Autumn to Spring Festival.
