Synopsis

Who is the Captain and why is his word important? The author of over 40 songs for troupes and "chirigotas", including Los Yesterday, Juan Carlos Aragón was a writer, carnival composer and philosophy teacher. His lyrics were also pure philosophy, which often reached us via the voices of the most admired artists in the country. His death unleashed an extraordinary tsunami in Andalusia which resulted in an explosion of love, despite the fact that in life he aroused a lot of hate. “The Captain's word” is not only a posthumous portrait of a genius such as Juan Carlos Aragón. It is about the Cádiz Carnival and its recent history, indelibly marked by this author who disappeared prematurely, unexpectedly and silently.
