First collaboration between contemporary circus artist Quim Girón, founder of the company Animal Religion, and Moon Ribas, choreographer and cyborg activist. Moon Ribas has been experimenting with technology and her body for years now to explore the limits of perception. For his part, Girón never stops stretching the limits of what we know as circus and lately he’s been working on no control. It may seem counterproductive to lose control in circus disciplines, but it is a path towards transformation that he wanted to travel.
Fenómeno is therefore a duet that dialogues with temperature, where ice is the main material used to keep modelling unheard of scenic universes. Ice changes every second and, with it, the resulting space and image when the body interacts with it. A large cold room dominates the stage, from which blocks of ice emerge that will then change into liquid and gas.
With the audience arranged on both sides, an intimate and close stage moment is created, with a silence broken only by the states through which the matter passes, the simple mystery of transformation, a chemical rite that thus reveals the fragility of human identity as matter, the fragility of the artist facing what is already done.
