Las malditas, alongside Loquios, inaugurates Dolmen Editorial's new “Línea Escénica” collection of adaptations of theatre works into graphic novel form. A tragicomic tale of madness, or at times mere difference, in a world that doesn’t accept that which deviates from the normal.
As with all tales, there is something magical, inexplicable and evocative about Las malditas. But this is no ordinary story. Neither amiable nor moralistic. It talks about madness, about being different in a world that won’t accept you. A world where you have no place. A story of misfits. An adventure with bewildered characters who are angry with life, perhaps even cursed. And so, they impulsively and unconsciously race forward in a headlong at the breakneck pace of a road movie, desperately seeking a way out that could be either miraculous and redemptive or lead to their ultimate demise.
A hilarious tragedy populated by grandmothers, mothers, and daughters, absent fathers, nuns on the run, sex workers and Our Lord God Himself. Is it possible to find a better or more unconventional ensemble?
