Climate change and the eco-social crisis are the elephant in the room. We are uncomfortable with its presence, it upsets us, or we try not to see it. In the meantime, the elephant is getting bigger and bigger...

La Rueda Teatro Social is showcasing Quiero colapsar a tu lado, a tragicomedy exploring the delicate state of our planet, at the Festival de Otoño. Behind the work lies a research project consulted by climate experts and ecologists. The project is a collaborative piece with Greenpeace, Ecologistas en Acción, CSIC, activists, anthropologists, geologists, and other experts.

Three friends set on a quest to explore the complexities of the eco-social crisis. They will narrate the testimonies of global activists, small local projects, the affected, historical figures, and even family members... However, they will also narrate reflections, emotional responses, illusions, fears, and confessions... How can we, both as individuals and collectively, prepare to coexist with what lies ahead or to mitigate any potential risks? How can innovative methods of reconstruction and refurbishment be initiated and reinstated?

The performance aims to strike a balance between documentary theatre and autofiction, utopia and dystopia, introspection, activity, feeling... and poetry. A creation born out of the necessity to seek companionship and affection amidst data that present an increasingly uncertain future. An attempt to light up a dark space.
