The theater company of the Italian association Gli Amici di Luca, in Bologna, works with people who were in a coma and woke up, so the theater served them as a therapeutic help for their recovery and later life. Babilonia Teatri, -directed by Enrico Castellani and Valeria Raimondi-, contact them to create this Pinocchio free version, the best-known children's character in Italian literature, created by Carlo Collodi. In its translation to the scene, the original work remains latent, resounding in the characters innocence and in their awaking to a new world. The three protagonists were affected by coma, exhibiting their physical marks and sequels. On stage, Castellani guides them to tell their lives. Although the creation dates from 2012, the story takes a new relevance nowadays.
Enrico Catellani and Valeria Raimondi founded Babilonia Teatri in 2005, in Verona. His theater is characterized by an irreverent and divergent look at the present, by an unconventional style, which understands theater as a mirror of society and reality using new visual and linguistic codes. Among their works are Panopticon, Frankenstein, made in Italy, Pornobboy, the Triptych - Hell, Purgatory and Paradise, a very free version of Dante's work; and a version of Romeo and Juliet, by Shakespeare, performed by two old men.
