About the show

Immersed in a process of reflection upon his own trajectory, that the pandemic only reinforced, the choreographer Jesús Rubio explains he dedicated a time to “search among what remains”. And what has remained is his own work with dance and the decantation that means El hermoso misterio que nos une, where alone on stage, he displays -with the music of Bach-a praise to the mobility of the body, to the fluidity of thought, to the flow of ideas, of our questions, of small revelations; to our ability to remember and project ourselves. To all the world that does not stop appearing no matter how lonely we are, no matter how isolated.

About the Company

Jesús Rubio Gamo (Madrid, 1982) is an independent dancer and choreographer who has been producing his own creations since 2008. He has studied classical ballet, contemporary dance, theatre and literature in institutions such as the Royal Higher College of Performing Arts (RESAD), the Royal Professional Conservatory of Dance Mariemma (RCPDM) or the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He was awarded a MAE-AECID scholarship (2005-2007) to pursue a Master's Degree in Choreography at the London Contemporary Dance School (The Place), which he completed with Distinction. He also has a Master's Degree in Stage Practice and Visual Culture from the UAH in collaboration with the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. Jesús Rubio Gamo was selected for two consecutive years, 2017 and 2018, by the Aerowaves Dance Network as one of the 20 most outstanding young choreographers on the current European scene. In 2020, he was awarded the Ojo Crítico Prize for dance. The jury valued “his artisanal approach to choreographic composition which is visible in both intimate projects when making words dance, and in the direction of large groups where he is able to draw connections between the structure and the individuality of the artists”. One of his noteworthy pieces is Gran Bolero, a choreography for twelve dancers (six from Madrid and six from Barcelona), co-produced by Teatros del Canal and Mercat de les Flors, Premio MAX winner for the Best Dance Show, in 2020.
