About the show
Political reflection and humor run through La Calòrica’s theater, which has
been on stage for over a decade. Fairfly, -MAX for the best
revelation show in 2018-, is consistent with these topics. The economical
crisis and the work environment constitute the framework for a story about
four friends who try to organize themselves after being fired. They discuss
whether defend their jobs or make an old brilliant idea from the past come
true. According to their authors, Fairfly stresses in the reality
of to the present, the government and the markets attempt to change the
unemployment figures and finish with the social consciousness. They try to
show that, if professional life is precarious, unhappy or unsatisfactory,
it is only due to a lack of “entrepreneurial culture”. And therefore,
campaigns to help start-ups and motivational slogans such as: “Go out for
your dream”.
About the Company
The theatre company La Calòrica was born in 2010 by a group of friends, recently graduated from the Instituto del Teatro. From the beginning they decided to go for a committed line of theatre, and to use all possible languages within their reach. La Calòrica has researched various aesthetic territories and topics. Political reflections and the use of humour to approach the most serious problems are their main hallmark. The company has created and produced seven shows: Feísima Enfermedad y muy triste muerte de la reina Isabel I (2010), El Editto Bulgaro (2012), La Nave de los Locos (2013), Bluf (2014), Sobre el fenómeno de los trabajos de mierda (2015), El Profeta (2016), Fairfly (2017) and Los Pájaros (2018), apart from several short pieces and special collections. Their works have been staged in alternative locations as well as in the biggest festivals in the country, and they have received various awards, including two MAX for Fairfly.
