In the contemporary flamenco world, there is a place occupied by María del Mar Suárez La Chachi, licenced in dramatic art and Spanish dance, who arrives at the Festival de Otoño with Los inescalables Alpes, buscando a Currito. In this confluence of dance, song and digital music, La Chachi expresses through dance the search of love in the 21st century, without a romantic consideration. For the artist, climbing is a symbol of overcoming and salvation, describing her piece as “a literal trip, it journeys from one point to another in search of adventure, tragedy. On the way, the body transforms into penitence”.
In 2017, La Chachi, dancer, actress and devoted enthusiast of new dramaturgies, launched her first solo work, La gramática de los mamíferos. This first creation received three PAD awards for best show, best actress and best production without grants, apart from the Lorca Award for Andalusian Theatre for best actress in 2018. Her second work, La Espera, which blends flamenco and rave, was selected for the research residency at Teatros del Canal and received the Ateneo award for best dance show in 2019.
